Here's what I mean: 300 million people use ChatGPT every month. But ask any of them to build a repeatable AI workflow — something that saves them real hours every week — and most will stare at you blankly.
They know AI is powerful. They just don't know how to make it work for them.
That gap is the biggest career opportunity of 2026.
The Skill Gap Nobody's Talking About
We've all heard "AI will replace your job." But that's not quite right.
The real story is simpler and scarier:
People who know how to work with AI will replace people who don't.
Not because AI is magic. Because the people who learn to use it as a force multiplier — a second brain, an executor, a research assistant — will operate at 3-5x the speed of everyone else.
And right now, that group is tiny. Less than 5% of knowledge workers have a real AI workflow. The rest are still copy-pasting into ChatGPT and hoping for the best.
What "AI Literacy" Actually Means
AI literacy isn't about:
• ❌ Learning to code
• ❌ Understanding transformer architectures
• ❌ Memorizing prompt templates
AI literacy is about:
• ✅ Knowing what AI can and can't do
• ✅ Communicating clearly with AI (prompting as a spec, not a prayer)
• ✅ Building personal workflows (input → structure → reuse → output)
• ✅ Integrating AI into your actual daily work
It's a thinking skill, not a technical skill.
The Three Levels of AI Competence
🥉 Level 1: AI Awareness — "I know what AI can do."
You've tried ChatGPT. You understand the hype and some limitations. Most people are here.
🥈 Level 2: AI Application — "I use AI to get things done."
You have actual workflows. You save real hours every week. This is where the value is.
🥇 Level 3: AI Innovation — "I create new things with AI."
You build AI-powered products, services, or systems. This is where careers are made.
Most people are stuck at Level 1. Our mission is to get you to Level 2 fast, and give you the foundation for Level 3.
Why I Started Marbella AI
I'm Jason Dou. CS undergrad at Peking University, then years in AI research — including a postdoc at Harvard focused on AI applications in healthcare, social science, and business.
I've seen AI from both sides: the research lab and the real world. And the gap between them is enormous.
In the lab, we build incredible models. In the real world, most people can't use them effectively. Not because they're not smart enough — because nobody taught them how.
That's why I started Marbella AI at the Harvard Innovation Labs:

Spend 15 minutes trying to build an AI workflow for it. Not a one-off prompt. A repeatable process.
If you succeed, you just moved from Level 1 to Level 2. Do it ten more times and you'll be operating in a different league.
